Cascade CO Real Estate, Cascade area and Community Information
Cascade, Colorado, is an unincorporated community in El Paso County. It is located near Pikes Peak, not far from Coloado Springs. Tourists come to the area to enjoy a diverse array of recreational activities during all four seasons of the year.
History
The first homesteader of European descent was said to have been Eliza Marriot Hewlett, who came out from New York with her two children in the 1880s. Additional settlers arrived to establish ranches or to promote tourism. The Cascade area also catered to the mule trains passing through on their way to mines in the Leadville and Cripple Creek areas. In 1888, the Colorado Midland Railway was routed through the area. Thanks to the arrival of the railroad, tourists were increasingly attracted to Cascade Canyon and its waterfall.
Parks and Recreation
Hikers will find a series of waterfalls along the Heizer trail as it winds its way to Cascade Community Park. Along the way, views of Pikes Peak unfold as well. The trail covers six-miles round trip. The
