History of Divide
Divide was originally named Hayden's Divide after a man by the name of Ferdinand Hayden. Hayden was a geologist, surveyor and paleontologist who helped to map out the area. It had been dubbed Divide because water run-offs separated at this point and ran off in various directions.
Over the years, Divide has been dependent on both farming and tourism. The main crops in Divide are potatoes and iceberg lettuce. Divide's Midland Depot played a significant role in the success of this small community's farming and tourist industries. Today, Divide is a thriving close-knit community that is protected from over-development by regional growth plans.
